Early Years Professional Exchange

Date: 30 November 2017

As part of the Education and Training Foundation’s wider Outstanding Teaching, Learning and Assessment (OTLA) programme, Professional Exchanges have been developed to support practitioners to work collaboratively to develop their skills in teaching, learning and assessment.

Within the Professional Exchanges, special projects have been commissioned to look into specific areas of interest, of which the Early Years project is one.

The focus of this project is to support Early Years’ tutors, trainers and assessors that impact on the quality of the delivery of Early Years’ courses leading to Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications.

These projects will be a test-bed for further activity.

Feedback and publicity from these projects will identify high priority areas for development and lead to a programme of CPD and training to support staff working in this sector. The project aim is to involve at least 50 teaching practitioners/middle managers and around 100 further staff indirectly.

Any participants recruited as part of this project will self-assess against the Professional Standards.

Two networks for the Professional Exchange will take place on Wednesday 6th December and Friday 8th December 2017 at emfec.

The focus of the professional exchange meetings will be:

  • Recruitment, training and retention of EY practitioners
  • Stretching L2 and L3 EY learners beyond pass and merit
  • Embedding English and maths in EY curriculum
  • Current curriculum challenges
  • Embedding Digital Learning
