Unit update: Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid
We are making some changes to the units in our NCFE CACHE Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (603/0752/3) which will be coming into effect from 3rd December 2018.
These updates will reflect changes that were instigated by a round table review of the content with the First Aid Awarding Organisations Forum.
The changes have:
- combined some learning outcomes and strengthened the content to ensure it is in line with current legislation and practice
- included the demonstration of an auto-injector (EpiPen)
- brought the PFA unit content in line with the Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) and First Aid at Work (FAW) qualification units ensuring a more consistent approach to delivery.
We have also reviewed the suitability of the age range of learners for this qualification and have made the decision to lower the entry age to 14. This will ensure that the qualification is available to young people who perhaps are taking on the role of babysitters for the first time.
The updated specification for the Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid will be available from the 3rd December 2018.
These changes will also be reflected in our new Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid qualification, which will be available from the 3rd December 2018
