Insights from the About Early Years Workforce Roundtable
Sector experts met at the About Early Years Workforce Roundtable to discuss the results of the recent Ceeda sector skills survey. After inspiring presentations were given by several speakers including Julie Hyde, Director at CACHE, thoughts and ideas were shared during roundtable discussions about recruitment, training, CPD and career progression.
Contributors spoke about the importance of consistent messages being communicated, along with the promotion of the early years career progression map. The experts deliberated strategies to build capacity and infrastructure in the sector, such as establishing a professional body to oversee standards and raise status, as well as supporting smaller organisations in cascading skills and knowledge. Promoting a positive culture was also a main focus, encouraging settings to embed CPD as a long-term investment, celebrate success by sharing stories of progression and achievement and embed health and well-being within an organisation’s ethos and ways of working, rather than just being a ‘bolt-on’.
CACHE supports the views and solutions shared at the sector Workforce Roundtable and embraces the significance of accessible high quality CPD for early years professionals in order to firstly, improve the lives of the children they care for and secondly, meet the training requirements of employers in the sector.
