Chichester College – Mental Health Awareness
In honour of Mental Health Awareness Week, we would like to highlight the great work of Chichester College.
Chichester College is a further education institution situated in West Sussex offering full time and part time courses across the health and social care sector. Included in their portfolio is our Level 2 Certificate in Mental Health Awareness*.
Natalie Tierney, Deputy Head of Learning at Chichester College, commented: “We chose to deliver the Level 2 Certificate in Mental Health Awareness as the qualification sits within our sector and is applicable for both children and young people, and adults in health and social care.
“The qualification is relevant as it covers a variety of mental health problems which can be experienced within this within this area and, indeed, any line of work.”
To meet the needs of their learners, Chichester College delivers the qualification flexibly, offering both a paper based version and an electronic version. The college has been delivering the mental health awareness qualification for a number of years.
Natalie added: “We particularly like the variety of mental health difficulties this qualification covers, as well as the way it breaks down stereotypes and stigmas often associated with mental health. The qualification is very user friendly and the supporting resources have been extremely useful, we would definitely recommend.”
Jill Gayton, External Quality Assessor at NCFE, commented: “We have really enjoyed working with Chichester College, it is great to see the high standards of quality the college provides in delivering our qualifications.”
The Mental Health Foundation hosts Mental Health Awareness Week in the second week of May each year. We offer a range of qualifications in mental health, which aim to raise learners’ awareness and understanding of mental health and mental well-being. A number of these qualifications have been developed in collaboration with NHS Foundation Trust and mental health charity Tyneside Mind.
