CACHE Level 6 Early Years Professional Status
Who is the qualification aimed at?
The Validation Pathway is for learners working in the sector who can provide all the evidence to demonstrate they have the appropriate attributes, knowledge, understanding, skills and experience to meet the validation process. The Short Pathway is for those employed in the sector with a relevant degree or qualification but who need to gain some additional knowledge or experience.
The Long Pathway is for those employed in the sector who have a relevant foundation degree or its equivalent or who have an unrelated degree. These candidates may need to reach full degree Level and gain more experience of leading practice.
The Full Pathway is for graduates who may have limited experience of the care and education of young children. These learners may need to improve their knowledge of professional practice and experience of working in early years settings.
What are the entry requirements?
Learners must have achieved GCSE at grade C or above in English and Mathematics (or recognised equivalent) and hold a degree that provides relevant and appropriate underpinning knowledge for the role. Learners who hold a foundation degree will need to supplement this qualification to the level of an ordinary degree on the Long Pathway.
What does the qualification cover?
Knowledge and understanding, effective practice, relationships with children, communicating and working in partnership with families and carers, teamwork and collaboration and professional development. How is it assessed?
Direct observation within a setting combined with a portfolio of additional evidence such as assignments, professional discussions, and witness testimonies.
Are practical placements required?
It is expected that learners will be in employment or volunteering in a related setting.
How long does the qualification take to complete?
The validation pathway takes 3 months, the Short Pathway takes 6 months, the Full pathway will take 12 months and the Long Pathway will take 15 months.
