Who is the qualification aimed at?

For group leaders or those with some experience in Early Years Care and Education to help them to plan and deliver a curriculum that will embrace Curriculum Cymreig.

What are the entry requirements?

Learners must be at least 16 years of age and working in a playgroup setting.

What does the qualification cover?

It covers child development, the early years curriculum and how to manage a group setting. It also covers how to advise and support parents (in a Welsh context).

What age range is covered?

Birth to 7 years with an emphasis on children between 2 and a half to 5 years of age.

How is it assessed?

One externally marked assignment and two internally marked assignments.

Are practical placements required?

It is expected that learners will be in employment or volunteering in a related setting.

How long does the qualification take to complete?

180 guided learning hours plus a further 180 recommended hours working in a related setting.
