Who is the qualification aimed at?
People who wish to work as assistants in pre-schools, playgrounds or nurseries.
What are the entry requirements?
There are no formal entry requirements but learners must be at least 16 years of age.
What does the qualification cover?
How to assist in pre-schools and playgroups and help support children's care, learning and development needs.
What age range is covered?
Birth to 5 years.
How is it assessed?
One externally marked assignment and three internally marked assignments.
Are practical placements required?
Learners will need to complete 150 hours working under supervision.
How long does the qualification take to complete?
180 guided learning hours plus a further 180 recommended hours working in a related setting.

Pre-school Assistant.
Early Years Assistant in a Children's Centre.
