Working with children in school and/or nursery school

Classroom Assistants

Classroom assistants work with teachers in the classroom. The role will involve working with individual children and small groups. Practitioners will need some knowledge of curriculum frameworks and the development of children, be able to work alone and within teams.

Recommended qualifications:

CACHE Level 2 Certificate for Teaching Assistants (CTA-L2)
CACHE Level 3 Certificate for Teaching Assistants (CTA-L3)
CACHE NVQ in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools Level 2 and Level 3

Nursery Nurses

Nursery nurses support the teacher within the classroom or nursery. As a Level 3 practitioner, nursery nurses may be expected to plan for a small group of children and to have knowledge of child development. Practitioners will need the skills to work individually and within a team.

Required qualifications:

CACHE Diploma in Child Care and Education (DCE-L3)
CACHE NVQ Level 3 in Children's Care, Learning and Development (NVQCCLD-L3)
