Working with children at home

Nannies

Nannies care for children in the home of the child. They can be a live-in or daily nanny. They can look after children of any age and should provide plenty of fun and learning opportunities in a safe environment. A nanny should also be able to prepare healthy meals and have some knowledge of first aid. A confident, resourceful personality is a plus.

Recommended qualifications:

CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Child Care and Education (DCE-L3)
CACHE NVQ Level 3 in Children's Care, Learning and Development (NVQCCLD-L3)
CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Home-based Child Care (DHC-L3)

Childminders

Childminders work in a variety of settings for children under the age of eight. They must be registered with the local authority and meet rigorous health and safety standards.  They should provide a safe, stimulating and caring environment, giving children opportunities for learning and play.

CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Home-based Child Care (DHC-L3)
CACHE NVQ Level 3 in Children's Care, Learning and Development (NVQCCLD-L3)
