Verify a CACHE Qualification
Checking Suitability of Job Applicants
Before taking on new staff members, it is vital to ensure that they are who they say they are. We can help confirm whether the certificates and claims of achievement of each candidate are genuine by checking their:
- Past training
- Qualifications
Qualifications and Certificates
As a general rule, insist on seeing the original of all certificates and do not accept photocopies. If a candidate has lost their CACHE certification, we can help provided we know their:
- Pin number (same as under NNEB)
- Name at time of passing
- College and year of passing
- Date of birth

Proof of Identity
Ask to see originals of two of the following:
- Passport
- Driving licence
- Birth certificate
References
Ask for at least two, one of which should be the previous or present employer.
Full Employment History
Ask for a full history, and probe any gaps. Look for evasive answers that may indicate a criminal record, or a medical condition that makes them unsuitable for supervising children.
Criminal Record Bureau (CRB) Checks
Potential employers may request a Criminal Record Bureau (CRB) check, but this is not a CACHE requirement. The level of this disclosure is determined by the amount of contact that the candidate will have with children in the job.
Since 3rd October 2005 the registered provider is responsible for having suitable vetting processes in place to safeguard children in their care.
