 Who is the qualification aimed at? Learners who work in or wish to work in support role such as class room assistants and learning support assistants. What are the entry requirements? Learners must be at least 16 years of age and it is recommended that they have a GCSE or equivalent at D grade or above.
 What does the qualification cover? The support learners will provide to the teacher and the pupils to ensure effective teaching and learning. It also covers the development of children and young people and working effectively with colleagues. This qualification has been approved as a technical certificate for the Apprenticeship programme at Level 2. What age range is covered? Children of any age in reception, primary, secondary or special schools. How is it Assessed? By two written assignments. Are practical placements required? Learners should already be employed or working as a volunteer in a school setting. How long does the qualification take to complete? 120 guided learning hours plus a further 120 recommended hours working in a school setting.
