Who is the qualification aimed at?
People working in an unsupervised role with children and young people. For example school administrator, receptionist, library assistant, IT support worker, learning resource assistant, caretaker or a lunch-time assistant.
What are the entry requirements?
Learners must be at least 18 years of age.

What does the qualification cover?
The skills, knowledge and understanding to enable learners to make a more valuable and effective contribution to the schools. It also includeds a specialised Parent Support pathway (Certificate and Diploma only) that reflects the government's parenting initiative and professional development for those working within a school or the wider children's workforce.
What age range is covered?
Children and adults depending on the units taken.
How is it Assessed?
Direct observation within the workplace combined with a portfolio of additional evidence such as, professional discussions, written or other records and witness testimonies.
Are practical placements required?
Learners will already be employed or working as a volunteer in a school setting.
How long does the qualification take to complete?
There is no set number of hours as it depends on the learner's ability to gather and log the required evidence.

Which job roles are learners qualified to undertake on completion of this qualification?
This qualification is intended to support learners in their current role. The Parent Support pathway enables staff to work in job roles that directly support parents on a one to one basis.
