What does the qualification cover?
This qualification develops the skills and knowledge neeeded when supporting the care and development of children and young people in a home-based setting, working mainly in a solo capacity. It also covers the legislation and regulations governing home-based childcare.
Who is it suitable for?
All home-based child carers, for example, child minders / home-based child carers and nannies.

What are the entry requirements?You will need to be at least 16 years old. CACHE does not set any other entry requirements but colleges or training providers may have their own guidelines.
How is it assessed?It will be assessed by your tutor and CACHE. You will need to complete a multiple-choice question paper and written assignments.
Do you need to be working to take this qualification?No. How long does it take to complete?
You can usually complete it in a year. Unit 1 only may be undertaken in 12 hours as a pre-registration qualification for child minders / home-based child carers. What related qualifications can you progress to?- Level 3 Extended Diploma for the Children and Young People's Workforce (QCF)
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People's Services (England) (QCF)
- A Degree in a related discipline
