Who is the qualification aimed at?


People who work, or wish to work, with those from 0- 16 years in settings or services whose main purpose is children's care, learning and development.


What are the entry requirements?


There are no formal entry requirements, but learners must be at least 16 years of age.



What does the qualification cover?


Practical, work related tasks based on national occupational standards as Level 2, which are designed to demonstrate competence at work.


What age range is covered?


Birth to 16 years of age.


How is it Assessed?


Direct observation within the workplace combined with a portfolio of additional evidence such as professional discussions and witness testimonies.


Are practical placements required?


Learners must already be employed or in a practical placement for the whole period of the qualification.


How long does the qualification take to complete?


There is no set number of hours as it depends on the learner's ability to gather and log the required evidence.
