Who is the qualification aimed at?
- The Awards/Certificate is for Key Stage 4 pupils (14+) in schools or colleges.
- The Diploma is for 16-18 year olds at FE colleges or with training providers.
- Mature learners.
What are the entry requirements?
There are no formal entry requirements.
What does the qualification cover?
It prepares learners to work in a supervised capacity with children and their families in a variety of settings and environments within the sector of Children's Services.
What age range is covered?
Birth to 16 years of age.
How is it Assessed?
- For the Award, assessment is by written assignments.
- For the Certificate, assessment is by a multiple choice question paper, and written assignments.
- For the Diploma, assessment is by the same methods listed for the Certificate plus a portfolio of work to support professional practice, assignments and a short answer test.
Are practical placements required?
Yes, for the Diploma.
How long does the qualification take to complete?
- 120 guided hours for the Award.
- 300 guided learning hours for the Certificate.
- 480 guided hours for the Diploma, plus a further 390 recommended hours working in practical placements.
