Update on the CACHE Level 3 Playwork Qualifications (QCF)

19th July 2010

CACHE have received sector support from SkillsActive to develop the CACHE Level 3 Award in Induction to Playwork, CACHE Level 3 Certificate in
Playwork and the CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Playwork (NVQ). These qualifications have now been submitted to Ofqual for approval, and we
estimate accreditation will be received by August 20th 2010

We are aiming for a draft Qualification Specification to be available by Friday 30th July and the version 1 by mid-August.

The first day for delivery of the qualification is 1st September 2010 and Centres can register learners to draw down funding (if applicable) from 1st
October 2010. This is due to an agreement between all Awarding Organisation’s to launch the qualification on 1st October, agreed due to the late
availability of Level 3 Units and Rules of Combination.

Existing Level 3 qualifications are available for registration until December 31st 2010, but funding for these NQF qualifications ceases on 31st
August 2010.

A new Quality Assurance Framework is being trialed

27th April 2010

A new quality assurance framework for internal assessment has been developed that will replace the current Standards Moderation process. A two-
phase pilot of the new Quality Standards Monitoring (QSM) process is currently underway led by our Centre Advisors. The approach will be rolled out
across all Centres and all relevant qualifications – both QCF and NQF- from September 2010. For more information click here

Existing CACHE qualifications on the Learning Aims Database (LAD)

All existing CACHE qualifications remain on the Learning Aims Database, which shows funding to be available until December 2010. However,
CACHE would like to confirm that as soon as QCF equivalent qualifications become available, funding is ‘switched off’ for equivalent NQF quals from
all awarding organisations.

The LAD will not reflect this until QCF qualifications are fully accredited. We appreciate this could have been misleading for Centres, as it may have
suggested that all CACHE qualifications have been extended until December 2010. However, we can confirm that CWDC have supported the
continuation of funding for the CACHE Level 3 Diploma only until December 2010.
