Assessing and Assuring the Quality of Assessment

Levels 3 and 4 Qualifications in Assessing and Assuring the Quality of Assessment are designed for people wanting to assess qualifications or carry out internal Quality Assurance.

These qualifications have replaced the previous qualifications the ‘Assessing and Verification Awards’ which, in turn replaced the original Training and Development Assessing and Verification qualifications (D32, 33, 34 and 35).

If you would like to become an Assessor for QCF qualifications either assessing competence in the work environment, vocational achievement or both; or perhaps are already a qualified Assessor and wish to work in an Internal Quality Assurance role, or maybe you are working in Internal Quality Assurance and wish to lead the Internal Quality Assurance process and practice, then these are the qualifications that you need to take.

The Level 3 Award in Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment is a knowledge only qualification that is very useful if you wish to gain an understanding of the essential principles and practices of assessment without actually working as an assessor.

Practising Assessors, Moderators and Internal Verifiers who hold a different qualification and now wish to assess or quality assure the QCF qualifications must use the current criteria contained within these qualifications. It is imperative that these people refer to the ‘How to’ guide for CACHE QCF Qualifications’.

Practising Assessors and Internal Quality Assurers who hold a recognised qualification as described in the ‘How to’ guide do not have to retake these current qualifications however they must show that they have updated their knowledge and practice to reflect the revised standards.
