Who is the qualification aimed at?



  • Key Stage 4 pupils in schools or colleges.
  • 16 - 18 year olds in FE colleges, or with training providers.
  • Any learners wanting to develop practical parenting skills.

What are the entry requirements?


There are no formal entry requirements.




What does the qualification cover?


The basic skills for caring for children.


What age range is covered?


Birth to old age but with a focus on children.


How is it Assessed?


A portfolio of evidence, a practical demonstration/assignment and a multiple choice question paper.


Are practical placements required?


Between 15 to 30 days of work experience is recommended.


How long does the qualification take to complete?


350 guided learning hours.




What related qualifications can learners progress to?


CACHE Level 2 Award, Certificate, Diploma in Child Care and Education

CACHE NVQ Level 2 in Children's Care, Learning and Development


Which job roles are learners qualified to undertake on completion of this qualification?


This qualification does not qualify learners to practice in the workplace.
